Since 2018 IACD, together with national partners has organised the World Community Development Conference. This is a global gathering of members and other participants organised to celebrate and share community development practice and scholarship from different countries. Each WCDC will have a theme related to a topical political, social, economic, environmental issue affecting the community development world.
Attracting several hundred participants, these gatherings bring together keynote speakers, panel debates and dozens of workshops and practical learning sessions. Each WCDC also includes a day of visits to local projects in proximity. They may also be followed by an extended week long Practice Exchange for a smaller group of participants wishing to learn more about community development in the host country.
All WCDC’s are organised with host partners, normally the national community development association or agency, and supported by the host local authority and national government.
In 2023, IACD will be partnering with Australian Community Workers Association, Jeder Institute and Inspiring Communities to bring the 2023 WCDC to Darwin, Australia.
See you in the Top End.
